Alejandro Badia, MD

Dr. Alejandro Badia performed his undergraduate studies at Cornell University in Physiology. He obtained his medical degree at New York University where he subsequently completed his Internship in General Surgery and Residency in Orthopedic Surgery. He went on to a Hand and Upper Extremity Fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania followed by a traveling Hand Fellowship in Europe through the AO Trauma Association. He is a founding partner of the world renowned Miami Hand Center and recently inaugurated the Badia Hand to Shoulder Center, a comprehensive facility with diagnostics, clinic, surgery center, therapy and urgent care facility all dedicated to the hand and upper limb. Dr. Badia also runs a prestigious hand surgery fellowship that has trained surgeons from five continents and he organizes a yearly conference in Miami that brings together over a hundred surgeons/therapists to discuss han d/wrist joint replacement and arthroscopic procedures.

Dr. Badia is a member of ASSH, AAHS, AAOS and other national orthopedic/hand surgery societies in addition to honorary membership in several from Latin America and Europe. He serves on the editorial board of "Techniques in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery" and "Hand" journals as well as several surgeon advisory boards within orthopedic industry. His hobbies include travel, scuba diving, weight lifting, running, boating and ballroom/salsa dancing.
